There are a few different methods you can try to determine your finger size at home:
- Use a ring sizer: You can purchase a ring sizer online or at a jewellery store. This tool typically consists of a set of plastic or metal rings in various sizes. Simply slide the rings onto your finger until you find the one that fits snugly but not too tight.
- Use a piece of string or paper: Wrap a piece of string or paper around the base of your finger where you will wear the ring. Mark the point where the string or paper overlaps and measure the length with a ruler. Use a ring size chart to determine your size based on the measurement.
- Use a printable ring sizer: Many jewellery websites offer a printable ring sizer that you can download and print out at home. Follow the instructions to measure your finger and determine your size.
Keep in mind that finger size can vary throughout the day and in different temperatures, so it’s a good idea to measure your finger at different times and under different conditions to get an accurate measurement.
An important addition to note is if fingers have had tight rings on and a ‘squished rim’ has formed around the finger, make sure to leave it rest for at least a week giving the chance for the finger to settle back to its normal size. This is necessary especially if it required soap or moisturiser to remover your ring in the first place. The golden rule of a perfect ring size; easy to go on and harder to come off.
